Access to capital remains one of the biggest challenges facing small business owners. The 7(a) program has helped provide billions of dollars to America’s small businesses, the engine that drives American job creation and our economy.
It is only right that this historic agreement should be renewed in order to provide certainty to Israel, one of our closest allies, that they can rely on the United States to come to their aid when it comes to secure and stable energy sources.
This bill contained needed adjustments and reforms to our Medicare system and protections for our rural communities in states with high federal property ownership. We voted in favor of this bill tonight and give our commitment to work until the necessary spending offsets to be incorporated into our federal budget are realized so that Congress follows through on both: entitlement reform and federal spending reduction.
Each year I am truly impressed with the young men and women who apply to our service academies. We have some remarkable students in Idaho who are leaders and excel academically and I encourage all interested students to attend Academy Day events to learn more about their options.
There is an overwhelming consensus among our ground troops, special operators, and Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) that the A-10 is the Air Force’s best close air support aircraft and that it provides CAS capabilities that no other current aircraft can.
Reliable and lower-cost energy is the backbone of any successful economy and must be expanded to meet future needs. In Idaho and much of the west, geothermal energy is a largely untapped source of clean energy. This bill encourages its development and expansion by removing a layer of red tape that holds up production at geothermal facilities.
Interning in the U.S. Senate is an excellent way to learn about the legislative branch of government and to see where much of our nation’s early history took place. This group of interns is well qualified and is serving Idaho well.
This bill will benefit the millions of hardworking Americans who pay their fair share of taxes, which contribute to our roads, schools, and the safety of this country. Providing tax credits to people who are living in our country and enjoying those benefits without paying taxes isn’t right or fair. We cannot reward people who come to our country by breaking the law.
Service Academies offer high school graduates several opportunities beyond serving their country. Students will obtain a first-rate undergraduate education, a job upon graduation, and the ability to purse advance degrees all while receiving tuition, room and board, healthcare and a monthly salary.
In the logging industry, as in many other agricultural industries, family business is a way of life. We can bolster the entire logging industry by allowing young adults to begin helping their parents operate safe and modern machinery at an earlier age. This bill would equip these young loggers with the knowledge and experience to carry on the family trade and help to restore Idaho forests and all national forest lands into healthy, fire-tolerant forests while bringing much-needed natural resources into the marketplace.
