Including clean nuclear energy as part of our nation’s 'all-of-the-above' energy strategy is a no-brainer. Idaho's history in advanced nuclear technology and the INL's position as the nation's preeminent nuclear energy research lab makes us a natural leader in this public-private endeavor. I’m glad to see so many of my Senate colleagues agree that this legislation can and will do great things to encourage research and partnerships that lead to the next generation of reactors.
America's commitment to an 'all-of-the-above' energy strategy requires that we pursue clean nuclear energy that provides the needed base load power for our homes and businesses. Idaho’s history in advanced nuclear technology and the INL’s position as the nation’s preeminent nuclear energy research lab makes us a natural leader in this public-private endeavor, and this legislation will do great things to encourage research and partnerships that lead to the next generation of reactors.
Pastor Abedini should never have been in prison in the first place. He certainly should have been released prior to the administration making any kind of deal with the Iranians. We are certainly happy that Pastor Abedini and the other Americans have been released and that should have been done long ago.
I'm proud of these two young Idahoans, both of whom are very deserving of this distinction. Ashlynn and Mark have already accomplished much at their young ages by serving as leaders in their communities. I admire them and look forward to welcoming them to Washington, D.C., later this spring.
This year's nominees have met the high standards required to attend our military academies and each of them have demonstrated a level of commitment to our nation that is commendable. They are each truly deserving of this honor and I applaud them for their efforts.
Tonight's speech was no different from those before it, with the president presenting his confused version of the realities and hardships facing the American people. President Obama used this, his final State of the Union address, as a victory lap to claim that seven years of increased spending, increased taxes, increased debt, and increased regulations have made America a better place to live. Idahoans know better.
This president, more than any other, has violated the constitutional separation of powers in which the legislative branch enacts laws and the executive branch executes those laws. His excuse that the legislative branch is not doing its job could not be further from the truth. Indeed, the legislative branch continues to actively battle against and refuses to enact further gun control laws. That legislative function belongs to the first branch of government, not the second. I fully understand that the president and the left strongly disagree with Congress’ refusal to further restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners but that
Although many of my eastern colleagues do not fully appreciate the situation, wildfires continue to wreak havoc in the western part of our country and this continuing threat is very real. This additional $600 million in funding is a good thing, but we are still missing a long-term solution to the ever-increasing need for funds to prevent and battle fires.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch today joined a bipartisan group of senators calling for increased weight limit flexibility in the transportation and delivery of milk as part of a final Surface Transportation Bill. In a letter to Senate negotiators, Crapo and Risch request the final bill include a provision recognizing food […]
Whether you hunt or fish to put food on the table, to pass down a tradition to your family, or for game management purposes, there is something in this bill for you. With more than a half-a-million sportsmen and women in Idaho alone, this legislation will ensure they can continue to access their favorite hunting or fishing spot. I commend Senators Murkowski and Heinrich for their work to get this bill through the committee today and urge all of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support the bill on the Senate floor.
