Each Service Academy Day offers students, parents, and counselors the opportunity to meet with academy liaisons, cadets, and midshipmen from each school to ask questions and receive information. Staff from Idaho’s Congressional delegation will also be on hand to answer questions about the application process for receiving a nomination to the academies.
This legislation is so important because it will strengthen efforts to educate and recruit hunters and recreational shooters in our country. Whether for the purpose of putting food on the table, for game management purposes, or for passing a tradition down to other generations, hunting and shooting sports are important for many reasons. This update to the Pittman-Robertson Fund will provide state agencies the tools they need to provide and enhance recreational opportunities for all Americans who enjoy the outdoors.
Vicki and I express our heartfelt condolences to the entire Reagan family for the loss of former First Lady Nancy Reagan. Nancy was a woman of true class who composed herself with great dignity as she stood alongside our great president Ronald Reagan in service to our nation. We will miss her greatly.
After a preliminary briefing, it appears this plan will require the three states to work together collaboratively to manage the bears to the average number. I really believe that with Idaho’s experience managing other difficult species, such as cats and wolves, I have every confidence we can manage the grizzly bear species at the sustainable level agreed to.
The Final Rule goes well beyond the clear statutory directive by, among other things, requiring States to submit, for approval, state or regional energy plans to meet EPA’s predetermined CO2 mandates for their electricity sector. Having seen Guantanamo firsthand, I can attest that it is the most suitable place to hold some of the world's most dangerous terrorists and combatants, as it has for more than a decade. It is clear - the American people don’t want to bring these terrorists to our backyard, so much so, that Congress passed bipartisan legislation making it illegal to transfer Guantanamo detainees to American soil and President Obama signed it into law. It is illegal under current law to transfer a foreign terrorist to any facility in the United States, and I will continue to work to keep
Today America lost a great jurist - from a personal standpoint I lost a good friend. Justice Scalia loved Idaho and loved fishing. On his last trip to Idaho we spent a fabulous day fishing Silver Creek in Blaine County. He said it was one of the best, if not the best of days he had spent fishing. He and I shared a love of the outdoors. We had talked about a repeat trip but as often happens we waited too long. America will miss him and so will I.
President Obama's so-called 'strategic patience' has failed to take the threat of nuclear North Korea seriously. North Korea remains one of the biggest nuclear threats to the United States and our allies around the world. It is time for the United States to increase pressure on North Korea and require them to end their nuclear program, stop the cyber-attacks against us, and respect the human rights of their own citizens. This legislation will finally begin to sanction the people that help North Korea threaten peace and security. Anyone who facilitates North Korea’s weapons program, abuses human rights, or launders money
