WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch, senior member and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced the selection of Tracy General Store in Almo as the Idaho Small Business of the Month for March 2024. The Tracy General Store will be recognized for its contribution to the Southern Idaho community in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.

“The Tracy General Store is the longest continuously operating store in Idaho. Since its establishment in 1894, the store has offered household staples, remained the local post office, transformed into a dancehall, and been a popular stop for those visiting City of Rocks,” said Risch.“Current owners Kent and Janis Durfee have held tight to the rich history of the building, displaying relics throughout the store, including the original cash register. To this day and many more to come, the Tracy General Store is an important community space for everyone to enjoy."

Idaho is consistently ranked on the best places in the country to do business. Each month, Senator Risch selects an Idaho small business that exemplifies the Idaho values of hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional commitment to community.
