Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Sen Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, spoke with Fox News’ Harris Faulkner about the full Senate briefing on Iran and new reports of the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

When asked by Faulkner about the full Senate briefing on Iran, Risch said:

“We were briefed by a team yesterday; it was a great team that was led by the Secretary of State and by the Secretary of Defense who laid this whole thing out. They talked about how they evaluated the intelligence, what they looked at in that evaluation, what they determined the options to be, what option they chose, and how that has actually defused things as we stand here today.”

When asked about recent reports of new chemical weapons attacks in Syria perpetrated by the Assad regime, Risch said:

“This report is new, but we take it seriously. The use of chemical weapons in any setting is something that’s very serious and will be taken seriously by us.”
