Washington, DC—U.S. Senator Jim Risch issued the following statement after President Obama released his $3.7 trillion budget this morning.

“The American people have been loud and clear in their calls for getting our fiscal house in order. It is hard to understand how a budget that borrows 42 cents of every dollar spent and lacks any proposal to significantly change our spending habits in the future comes anywhere close to what Idahoans and Americans want from their government.

“This is not a partisan problem, it is a problem for all of us. America really needs leadership from the president on this issue and he is not providing it. It is time we refocus on the core functions of government and today the president missed an opportunity to join us on this mission.”
