Although I did not have an opportunity to serve with Senator Kennedy for very long, he treated me very civilly. We did not agree with each others' politics but he was always personable. He worked hard on issues and reached across the aisle to build consensus. His passing marks the end of an era in American politics.

We write in support of your effort to encourage Arab states to normalize relations with the State of Israel. In your June 4th address to the Muslim world, you highlighted the key role that Arab states can play in furthering the peace process and called on them to openly recognize Israel's legitimacy.

The President's decision to kill the nation's congressionally-directed repository for high-level nuclear waste as a favor to one state is politics at its worst. This is a political deal that flies in the face of our nation's energy security as well as the Settlement Agreement that the state of Idaho reached with the federal government in 1995.

A growing population and aging infrastructure has once again made transportation a top priority for federal dollars. Funding these projects improves access and safety on some of Idaho's most-travelled stretches of road while providing much-needed jobs for our workforce.

There is a great need for up-to-date health services, particularly in our rural communities. This funding will help many local hospitals upgrade their facilities.

There is no question she is a genuinely nice, smart and well-intentioned person. However, her belief and pronouncement that the Second Amendment is not a fundamental right is something I cannot accept.

Our National Guard and Reserve troops have played a very active role in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade taking a heavy toll on the equipment these brave men and women depend on.
