I am deeply troubled that Secretary Kerry would rush to Geneva to enter into a deal with the Iranians, which by all accounts is temporary, incomplete, and a bad deal. The idea of a temporary deal is a broken record we have listened to before.

I am, once again, calling for the release of Pastor Abedini, said Risch. "The government of Iran has repeatedly violated human rights by imprisoning and abusing Pastor Abedini whose only crime is peacefully exercising his faith. It is past the time for the government of Iran to release Pastor Saeed Abedini."

President Obama promised the American people time and time again that if they liked their current health insurance plan they could keep it, said Risch. "That promise was false. Millions of Americans have since received cancellation notices and millions more will. The American people should have the freedom to keep the insurance plan they have chosen and which was promised they could keep."

The United States faces serious long-term debt and spending challenges that we must confront now, Risch said. "Sadly this deal kicks the can down the road for three months and I could not support it. The federal government continues to borrow too much, spend too much, and intrude into the lives of Americans too much. I hope the President and my Democrat colleagues will offer serious proposals to find a solution instead of turning this situation into another crisis in January."
