Securing our Southern Border & Communities

I believe there is a three-pronged approach to immigration reform. First and foremost, we need to secure our borders. We cannot begin to solve this problem until we can control the borders. Second, we need to reform our current immigration laws by implementing a practical, workable program for legal immigration and workers. Finally, there should be no amnesty. No one should be rewarded for breaking the law.

The United States is a nation of laws. Our freedoms depend on consistent interpretation and an impartial judiciary. I therefore support judicial nominees who recognize the Constitution as the supreme law of the land, demonstrate judicial restraint, and do not see the judicial branch as a lawmaking body.

Those who violate our laws must be held accountable, and punishment for their crimes must be appropriate to deter future criminal behavior and protect our communities.
