America’s energy directly affects our quality of life, economic competitiveness, and national security. As a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, I am at the forefront of advancing energy policy that provides clean, reliable, and affordable energy for all Americans.
Nuclear energy is the silver bullet to producing the energy necessary to meet America’s future needs. I am a leading voice in Congress for the aggressive expansion of domestic nuclear power; it is safe, reliable, and produces zero carbon dioxide. I’ve long advocated for investments in next-generation nuclear and the research being done at the Idaho National Laboratory.
As a long-time advocate for hydropower — which provides over half of Idaho’s electricity — I’ve led efforts to modernize and streamline federal licensing processes and protect our federal dam infrastructure. I also support expanded drilling for domestic oil and the development of other sources of baseload power, such as geothermal, biomass, natural gas, and clean coal.
