Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jim Risch today praised Collin Squires of Lewisville for being named one of just four Military Children of the Year in the entire United States by Our Military Kids, Inc., a nonprofit organization created to provide support and recognition to military children.

Risch joined Collin and his mother Rebecca Squires at an Our Military Kids, Inc. event in Washington, D.C. Collin was honored as a Child of the Year for his musical achievements that were made possible by grants received from Our Military Kids during his father’s deployments overseas with the Air Force Reserve. The grants paid for fees associated with piano and guitar lessons.

“Collin is an exceptionally bright and talented young Idahoan,” said Risch. “It was a privilege to spend time with him and his mother and to learn more about their family’s story. I’m grateful for the sacrifices they make as Collin’s dad serves in the Air Force Reserve in Idaho, having been deployed four times, and proud of Collin’s considerable achievements.”
