WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) senior member and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced the selection of Continuous Composites in Coeur d’Alene as the Idaho Small Business of the Month for March 2021. Continuous Composites will be recognized for its contribution in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.

Co-founded in 2015 by Ken Tyler, John Swallow, and Tyler Alvarado, Continuous Composites is a technology company that develops composite additive manufacturing solutions for various industries. The company owns the world’s earliest granted patents on Continuous Fiber 3D Printing (CF3D®), a revolutionary, automated manufacturing process that uses carbon fiber, glass fiber, and optical fibers to produce light-weight, high-performance composite parts on-demand. The company is well positioned to change how industrial businesses and the Department of Defense innovate and manufacture from design and prototyping to serial production and sustainment. Continuous Composites’ novel approach to 3D printing has drawn interest from many industry leaders, national laboratories, and government agencies resulting in strategic partnerships and equity investments. This technology is directly aligned with the U.S. National Defense Strategy, which has led to significant engagement from the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Since its founding, Continuous Composites has hired numerous engineers and business professionals, bringing talent from across the country to Coeur d’Alene. Last September, Alvarado and Swallow announced the remodel and opening of a 7,500 square foot manufacturing demonstration facility on their campus in downtown Coeur d’Alene which is now being used for advanced research, development, and commercialization of CF3D®.

“Continuous Composites has been at the forefront of 3D printing technology since its founding and is an outstanding example of an Idaho small business that is trailblazing and leading the way in technological innovation,” said Risch.

“Congratulations to Ken, John, Tyler, and all the employees at Continuous Composites,” Risch continued. “You make our great state proud, and I look forward to your continued growth and success.”

Background: Idaho is consistently ranked one of the best places in the country to do business. Each month, Senator Risch selects an Idaho small business that exemplifies the Idaho values of hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional commitment to community.
