Risch Names New Regional Director

State Senator Tapped to Head Boise Office

March 22, 2012

Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Jim Risch announced today the hiring of State Senator Melinda Smyser as his southwest Idaho regional director. Smyser, serving in her second term as state senator from District 11, previously announced she was not seeking re-election in her reconfigured district.

"I am very pleased to have Melinda Smyser join my staff as the regional director for southwestern Idaho. Her experience as a state senator and the passion she brings in serving constituents is a great benefit to the citizens of the region," said Risch. "She brings over thirty years of experience as an educator, school board member, counselor and state senator from Canyon County and a great understanding of the issues."

"It is an honor for me to join Senator Risch's team and help bring his solid, conservative message to the constituents of southwest Idaho," said Smyser.

Smyser will serve as Senator Risch’s liaison to government entities as well as constituent groups and will represent the senator at constituent meetings. She will also monitor opinions and concerns of government, community and constituent groups and advise the senator on developments and issues.

The southwestern Idaho regional office is located in Boise and covers Ada, Canyon, Owyhee, Elmore, Boise, Gem, Payette, Washington, Adams and Valley counties. Smyser will begin her new job in late spring.

Senator Risch maintains six regional offices throughout Idaho to serve constituents. The offices are located in Boise, Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
