BOISE, Idaho - On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho) hosted a live telephone-town hall to hear from Idahoans about the issues that are most important to them.

Over the course of the call, Senator Risch answered questions about the national debt, immigration, the Columbia River Treaty, and much more while more than 6,000 Idahoans participated statewide. One question came from Tracy Walton of Emmett who expressed his concerns about farmers and trade's impact on the agriculture industry. Following the tele-town hall, Senator Risch spoke directly with President Trump about how U.S. trade policy impacts farmers like Mr. Walton.

"During the call, Tracy made a great point about the effects of trade on the agricultural industry. I promised I would carry his message to the president," said Risch. "Yesterday, I did just that during a lunch with the president at the White House. That prompted a lengthy and productive discussion about how we can help the ag industry. The president is fully engaged on the issue and he is on our side. My number one priority is representing Idahoans in D.C., and this is a great example of how your input can make a difference."

Any constituent can join a future telephone town hall and have the opportunity to speak with the senator one-on-one and ask him questions about his policy positions and current events in Washington, D.C. If you would like to add your contact information to the list, click here.
